Bringing a new approach to music with a blend of rock ‘n’ roll and country with a wild and free attitude, A Thousand Horses is turning the tide for themselves with grand appeal. The band was formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 2010. At the time, they released an EP on Interscope Records having moderate success. In 2014, they signed to Republic Nashville, which is under the Big Machine Label Group umbrella and released their album “Southernality” in 2015. This includes their single “Smoke,” which debuted at No. 28 on the Country Aircheck Radio Charts and reached No.1 on Billboard’s US Country Airplay chart. They are a true great addition to the country music scene. That’s why we here at “Sports & Entertainment Nashville” chose them as our latest up-and-coming artist spotlight.
The band is a workhorse, spending a lot of time performing and writing songs. This has paid off for them in spades and led to additional success when their song called “Suicide Eyes” was included on the soundtrack to the 2011 remake of the movie “Footloose.” This put their music on a higher level and reached an even wider audience for their music. It opened up a whole lot of opportunities for the band to win new fans. The turning point for these guys was when Jimmy Harnen, the president of Republic Nashville, heard some songs by the band and became excited about their music enough that he played it for Scott Borchetta, which eventually led to their partnership with Republic Nashville.
The band consists of lead singer Michael Hobby, lead guitarist Bill Satcher, Graham Deloach on bass and Zach Brown on rhythm guitar and backup vocals (not to be confused with Zac Brown of the Zac Brown Band). The band is a lot like brothers, doing a lot of things together outside of music. When you spend that much time together, you become like family, which in turn makes the music better and helps to form a much tighter unit.
A Thousand Horses is no stranger to the road. They have toured consistently for the past five years. They are fast becoming the workhorses of country music and are currently opening for Jason Aldean on his “We Were Here” tour. This tour is a great feather in their hat and is again introducing them to an entirely new audience, spreading their appeal far and wide.
A Thousand Horses is a young band on the horizon, looking to break into new markets and win as many fans as they can. They are troopers, a force to be reckoned with and have the ability to break barriers.
