Big Kenny Alphin is most commonly recognized as half of the music group Big & Rich, but fans are about to see Big Kenny as much more. In this new one-hour special reality TV show, Big Kenny and Family, fans will get to go behind the scenes of the singer’s life. It will feature his wife and their four sons doing daily tasks together such as attending church, doing yard work, and family dinners.
When Big Kenny is off the road, he enjoys being a husband and father – though he still has his same spunky personality. The show highlights the family man that fans don’t get to see of Big Kenny on stage. It also features other people in their life like Nacho, who claims he takes on various roles for the family such as property manager, driver, security, and caretaker for Big Kenny when Christiev is not around. The show also allows viewers to meet Marc Oswald, Big Kenny’s Manager, who plays a significant role in Big Kenny’s family on and off the road.
At the premiere party at Big Kenny and Christiev’s house, the couple explained that they had been offered to do a reality show over the past seven years but never felt it was right – until now. The couple further clarified that they wanted to send a positive message out to viewers and create a show that the whole family could watch, unlike most reality shows on TV today.
That is definitely the case with Big Kenny and Family as nothing was scripted; it is a glimpse into their real life. Executive Producer Yanne Debonne said that the family was not forced to do or say anything they didn’t want to do, contrasting other shows he has produced.
During the premiere party, Big Kenny and Christiev answered a few questions. One particular question posed was how they explained the filming of their lives to their young children. Christiev stated that they never wanted the children to feel like they were forced to do something. Manager Marc Oswald informed everyone that Big Kenny is even a Co-Producer on the show so he was able to control when the cameras were turned on and off, allowing privacy for the family.
The viewing at the premiere proved that the show is truly about family. It’s not about fame or Big Kenny’s celebrity life. It shows him as a family man that simply wants to spend as much time as he can with his wife and children while he is off the road.
The funny and intriguing show will hopefully turn into a series pending the premiere’s successful debut on TLC September 2, at 9 p.m. central.
