Now in it’s 25th year, the City of Hope Softball Game brings some of country music’s biggest stars together to help strike out cancer. Past players have included Carrie Underwood, Darius Rucker, Luke Bryan, Vince Gill, and more.
City of Hope is a research institution and cancer center where a team of scientists and physicians transform discoveries into better treatments and prevention strategies for people everywhere. Nashville’s way of supporting this life-saving cause is by it’s annual City of Hope Softball Game.
This year’s line-up so far comprises CMA Vocal Group of the Year Little Big Town, hit makers Love and Theft, Billboard chart topper Aaron Watson, ABC’s “Nashville” star Charles Esten, radio morning show co-host Chuck Wicks, rising star and “American Idol” finalist Lauren Alaina along with guitar player and country music vocalist Lindsay Ell. Country music legend Vince Gill has been suiting up for the game for the past twenty years! He returns to the field this year for the game’s special 25th anniversary milestone.
More stars will join the roster on either the Grand Ole Opry team or the iHeartRadio team, as the event is not until June 13. The game will take place at the new First Tennessee Park in Nashville, home of the Nashville Sounds baseball team. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster. Rumor has it that it’s possible to get an autograph or two as well.
We look forward to seeing who else will be joining the lineup for this year’s game, and will most definitely be getting our tickets to the game.
