S&E Nashville CRS Interview: New duo Smithfield talks “Whiskey” and playing the Ryman

There’s a new duo out of Texas to keep your eyes on. Smithfield is the tandem of Trey Smith and Jennifer Fiedler, who fashioned their group moniker from a combination of their last names. The duo has created a sound that blends country, pop and a bit of soul into a unique style.

Smith and Fiedler sat down with Sports and Entertainment Nashville during Country Radio Seminar to talk about their group name, their current single “Hey Whiskey” and an upcoming tour.

“Hey Whiskey” has provided a breakthrough for the twosome, with more than 2,500 downloads per week since its debut last year. The song is featured on their self-titled, eight-song EP.

Smithfield also gives a stirring recollection of performing on the Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman Auditorium, where they appeared the same evening as Crystal Gayle’s Opry induction.

They’ve also opened for such acts as Scotty McCreery, Sara Evans and Dustin Lynch.
