For those of us who have thawed out enough to venture into the outdoors again after our round of wintry weather, there are a number of events to enjoy this weekend.
For the sports enthusiasts in town, we must recommend the matchup between Belmont and TSU’s basketball teams. This is the final game of each team’s regular season, so don’t miss this chance to catch local college hoops in action! With both games at Belmont’s Curb Event Center, tipoff for the women’s game is at 2 p.m. and the men’s game is set for 5 p.m.
We would also be remiss if we didn’t mention the Predators game scheduled for today at 2 p.m. The game is one of the few afternoon slots in the Predators’ schedule, so do your best to see the Preds attack in their fierce rivalry with the Detroit Red Wings. It is certain to be a great game to watch! Go, Preds!
If hoops and hockey aren’t quite your cup of tea, you can instead choose to attend the perennially popular flea market, held at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds. You may think that this event is the tame option for the weekend, but don’t assume that the only cross-checking you’ll find this weekend will be at Bridgestone Arena! You stand an excellent chance of seeing two ladies duke it out like a live hockey fight over antiques and old lace!
Okay, that may be exaggerating a bit. We doubt there’s ever been a brawl at the flea market, but it is sure to entertain nonetheless! As Nashville’s favorite place to shop for bargains and relics alike, the flea market is the place to be every fourth weekend of the month! With free admission and parking set for only $5, the flea market is tops on our list!
Our final recommendation for this weekend is one sure to please comedy lovers far and wide! Marlon Wayans, one of the funniest comedians today, is set to perform at Zanies through today. Fans of “White Chicks,” the “Scary Movie” franchise, and my personal favorite, the Coen Brothers’ subtly hilarious 2004 film “The Ladykillers,” will not be disappointed in the show! Wayans has three performances set for today, so make sure not to miss this hilarious routine by one of Hollywood’s most humorous and hard-working entertainers!
