Entertainment, On A High Note

S&E Nashville recommends for this weekend

We have quite the bevy of activities for you this weekend! From bass to crappie and all points in between, you won’t have a chance for a dull weekend if you take a look at our recommendations!

First up is the smash-hit songstress Meghan Trainor, who is in town at the Cannery Ballroom tonight at 8 p.m., with her “That Bass Tour with Sheppard.” Raised on Nantucket Island and now a proud Nashvillian, Trainor is the co-writer and singer of last summer’s catchy song “All About That Bass.” Cross your fingers and hope that you can catch what will undoubtedly be a fabulous show from one of our very favorite locals!

From bass to crappie, our next event would be the crappie tournament at Old Hickory Lake. Presented by Crappie USA, this tournament is part of the national association, which boasts as being the largest crappie tournament organization in the world. Founded in 1996, it is also home to the American Crappie Association. If you’re a novice or pro angler, the weigh-in site is at Flipper’s Bait and Tackle in Gallatin. But for most of us, we just might enjoy spending a day lakeside and observing the festivities! It’s a great time of year for outdoor water activities-spring is just about to spring, and we can’t wait to enjoy the outdoors!

If fishing isn’t quite up your alley, how about a vintage train ride to DelMonaco Winery & Vineyards in Baxter? With a  wine tour and tasting included, you can’t beat a ride on a vintage restored passenger train! The Tennessee Central Railway Museum, which provides excellent excursions by rail throughout the year, is offering this unique visit to one of middle Tennessee’s excellent wineries. If you can’t make this weekend’s trip, they offer excursions year-round! Upcoming events include a ride to Watertown for the annual yard sale extravaganza, Easter Bunny rides for the family, and, one of our favorites, the Dogwood Spring Festival trip to Monterey. Visit TCRM for further information and to book your ride on the train. Come join us to ride the rails!

We also can’t leave without recommending our Nashville Predators, who play Saturday night against the Buffalo Sabres at 7 p.m. We can’t say enough about our favorite hockey team, and even though they have been struggling of late, they remain one of the top teams in the NHL and hopefully will be able to bust out of their funk against the struggling Sabres!

With the noble goal of doubling the lung cancer survival rate by 2022, the Free to Breathe 5K Run/Walk is also taking place this weekend at Shelby Bottoms. Runners take off at 8 a.m., and everyone is welcome to go cheer on the runners! It’s a great weekend to enjoy the outdoors, and what a wonderful organization to support!

Have fun this weekend, Nashville! With spring just around the corner, we can’t wait to enjoy all the great activities our town has to offer! Before we have to sling bags of mulch and start complaining about the heat, this is the time to soak up the outdoors and enjoy our town to the fullest!
