Nashville is proud to boast Cheekwood Botanical Garden as it’s public garden. There are many locals who have never been to Cheekwood. Friday is National Public Gardens Day and a perfect opportunity to visit. Head over to Cheekwood to celebrate its beauty and join in a day of promoting preservation of our environment and learning about plant conservation.

Of course, we can’t go without mentioning that the Iroquois Steeplechase is this weekend. Steeplechase has been captivating spectators for 74 years with its traditions and spirit. Executive director Libby Cheek says, “once you go, you’re hooked”. If you plan to attend, brace yourself to see lots of large hats and colorful apparel. Steeplechase is not only a fun day, but also a great place to reconnect with old friends or meet new friends and network all while supporting a great cause: Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
