Christmas is in full swing here in Nashville, with holiday festivities taking place all around the city. Here are just a few events taking place this weekend that are sure to put you in the holiday spirit.
It wouldn’t be the start of the holiday season without a parade to commemorate the occasion and this Saturday marks the 62nd annual Christmas Parade in Nashville. S&E Nashville Up and Coming spotlight artist Jana Kramer servers as this year’s grand marshal, along with the fitting theme of “Miracle on Broadway” as it makes its way down the heart of downtown Nashville. Spectators will delight in new floats and an appearance by the Nashville Ballet.

The Nashville Ballet continues a local holiday tradition with their production of “The Nutcracker.” The acclaimed Ballet brings to life the vivid story of Clara, the Mouse King, a dashing Sugar Plum Fairy and, of course, the Nutcracker – all with a Nashville twist. Tchaikovsky’s stunning compositions come to life with the help of the Nashville Symphony and choreography by Paul Vasterling.

The Nashville Ballet isn’t the only local art venue showcasing a renowned holiday piece, as Studio Tenn brings to life a true Christmas classic with their production of “It’s a Wonderful Life.” Soak in the heartwarming story of George Bailey and his journey of self-worth live on stage as Studio Tenn honors the original version, while adding their own vintage spin.

If you’re on the hunt for unique and locally made gifts, then the Porter Flea Market is your one-stop-shop. This pop-up event features a variety of handmade goods from some of the area’s best independent artists and designers. Just some of the vendors you’ll see include handcrafted clothing from Owlette, eclectic artwork by Elizabeth Foster and distinctive pieces by former Project Runway contestant Amanda Valentine, in addition to goods from local farms and foodies.

Holiday Lights Carriage Tours
Dazzle in the beautiful holiday lights decorating West End and Hillsboro Village from a horse drawn carriage that takes you through the streets of this historic neighborhood. Each 30-minute tour passes by beautifully decorated homes and buildings in this vintage area dating back to the 1920s. After delighting in the holiday display, enjoy hot cider and refreshments while listening to holiday tunes from the Fannie Battle Carolers.
