Entertainment, On A High Note

S&EN weekend recommendations

It’s another exciting weekend in Nashville, full of can’t miss events all around town. From a Christmas in July party to jazz music, a brew fest and a day of celebration for local farmers, here’s what we recommend this weekend.

Half Christmas Beer Fest

In one of the coolest events in Nashville this summer, Lightning 100 is breaking out the lights and Christmas spirit a little early with their Half Christmas Beer Fest. Guests can look forward to seeing many tacky Christmas sweaters, frolicking in the snow, plenty of holiday lights, a keg tree and are even encouraged to sing Christmas karaoke loud enough for all to hear. And it wouldn’t be a Christmas party without a visit from Old Saint Nick. More than 40 beers will be available for bottomless tastings from breweries like local favorite Jackalope Brewing Company, Good People Brewing Company, Angry Orchard, Fat Bottom Brewing Company and more.

When: Sat., July 16, 6pm – 10pm

Where: Pavilion East

Admission: GA – $40, Day of event – $50

Nashville Rib & Jazz Festival

The only thing that can make quality jazz music even better is to be accompanied by equally marvelous barbecue and this weekend, that’s exactly what Music City’s going to get. The Nashville Rib & Jazz Festival rolls into town with acclaimed jazz musicians from all around the country, including two-time Grammy winner Paul Brown, local stars El Movimiento, Eric Essix Trio and more while good eats will be provided by St. Louis’ Sugarfire Smoke House. All proceeds benefit the Chocolate Jazz Foundation to help keep musical educational programs in public schools.

When: Sat., July 16, 3pm – 9pm

Where: Cumberland Park

Admission: GA – $20 online, $30 at door, VIP table – $65

Big Guitar Brewfest

There’s a party in the outfield this weekend at First Tennessee Park, all thanks to Nashville’s favorite baseball team, the Nashville Sounds. This weekend marks the Big Guitar Brewfest, bringing with it 50 local and craft breweries, along with vendors from around the country and a variety of liquor sampling tents. Just some of the brewers that will be on hand include Founder Brewing Co, Woodchuck Hard Cider, SweetWater Brewing Company and countless more. There will even be a mini-golf course open on a first-come, first-serve basis.

When: Sat., July 16, 1pm – 4pm

Where: First Tennessee Park

Admission: GA – $50, VIP – $75, Designated Driver – $25

Community Farm Day

A community farm day in the truest sense of the phrase, this event celebrates many of our local and regional farmers during the best part of growing season. Get to know the farmers who produce the amazing goods you find at the market, in addition to a variety of activities to celebrate the season. Live bluegrass, a local meat cookout, a tomato tasting and even a musical petting zoo, along with many other fun events will be taking place at this community event.
