S&EN weekend recommendations – Memorial Day edition

This weekend offers a diverse range of events to keep you busy, with everything from the monthly flea market to a ’90s extravaganza at Cumberland Park all happening in Music City. Get all of the details below in this week’s recommendations.


Nashville Flea Market

 The Nashville Flea Market takes over the Fairgrounds yet again this month, this time with the theme of Thrift Emporium. Explore the roughly 2,000 booths that make their way to the market each month, bringing along plenty of treasures and trinkets. From antique furniture to leather and paper goods, and every exciting find in between, the Nashville Flea Market has been voted the No. 1 flea market in the state. This weekend is sure to provide just as many gems as it does each time.

Tennessee Renaissance Festival

 This marks the final weekend of the yearly Tennessee Renaissance Festival, which has brought medieval times to Arrington all month long. The festival closes out with the theme of Celtic Weekend, celebrating the Briton heritage with kilts and Celtic songs. Don’t miss your last chance to see an authentic jousting match, artisan items, Renaissance costumes and of course take a tour of the famed Castle Gwynn.

Super Cool Fun Fest

 Bust out your best bandana, neon clothes and jelly sandals as Music City steps back into the ’90s this weekend at the Super Cool Fun Fest. This second annual event features all things ’90s, with My So Called Band playing some of your favorite hits from the decade. Get ready to feel like a kid again as you play classic ’90s games like Skip-It, Four Square, Jenga Giant, flip cup and more. And the best part is that you can celebrate the joys of childhood with plenty of beer at this 21+ event with the proceeds going toward Greenways for Nashville.

 Camp Nash at Fontanel

Get ready for a day of great country music for a concert that, in true Nashville fashion, benefits a worthy cause. All day Monday, catch performances from acts like Big & Rich, The Voice’s RaeLynn, Thompson Square and more at Fontanel’s amphitheater. In the theme of Memorial Day, all of the proceeds benefit the Special Forces Charitable Trust that works to support the families of deployed soldiers, in addition to funding programs that benefit veterans and their relatives. There will also be family-friendly activities going on all day.
