Entertainment, On A High Note

Sports & Entertainment Nashville is listening to Hank Williams, Jr.

He is one of the most recognizable figures in country music history. Selling more than 70 million records and having numerous top 40 and No. 1 hits, few will ever match his success. He has been named Entertainer of the Year by both the ACMs and the CMAs and has won too many awards to count! He followed in his father’s footsteps, definitely filling the shoes of the man that many consider to be the father of country music. He has made hit records for almost five decades; he is the King of Rockin’ Country and the singer of Southern soul – legendary recording artist Hank Williams, Jr.

Hank, Jr.’s first public appearance was in 1960 at the Grand Ole Opry, which stands to reason because his father was the legendary Hank Williams, Sr.  Williams really hit the mainstream in the early 80s where his career went through the roof. More than 40 years into a legendary career, he is still going strong today and is releasing a new album, titled “It’s About Time.” He plans on this album taking him back to the top. The first single was released in November – a duet with Eric Church that debuted during the 49th Annual CMA Awards. The song entitled “Are You Ready for Some Country'” is selling well and is just the appetizer for the entire album.

In addition to his first single “Are You Ready for Some Country’, which was written by Neil Young, other songs include “Club U.S.A.” and “God Fearin’ Man.” The fourth song is “Those Days Are Gone,” followed by a song written by Hank, Jr. himself called “Dress Like An Icon.” In the sixth song, he makes a statement with “God and Guns” and lets us know “Just Call Me Hank.” The eighth song on the album was written by the legendary Mel Tillis, named “Mental Revenge,” followed by the title track “It’s About Time.” On the tenth song Hank steps back to old school Hank with “The Party’s On,” followed by “Wrapped Up, Tangled Up in Jesus (God’s Got It).” The last song on the album features Brantley Gilbert, Justin Moore and Brad Paisley with one of Hank, Jr.’s legendary songs called “Born to Boogie.” There is no doubt this will be another great and successful Hank, Jr. album.
