The savory, homemade biscuits have been drawing in hungry customers for over sixty years. After 18 years of residing in the 615 area code, I finally made my way to the popular Loveless Café and boy, was it worth the wait. Known for its flashy sign and savory biscuits, the Loveless Café lived up to its name.
It was Saturday morning so I knew there would be a wait. However, the aroma upon entering was too tempting to wait for an hour and a half – so takeout it was. After placing our order we walked around outside to check out some of the cute shops and things to do.
First stop was the Loveless Hams & Jams Country Market. Here you can purchase biscuit mix, preserves, fresh ham and bacon, cooking supplies and tons of souvenirs like mugs and magnets. After leaving the market, we noticed a cute head-in-the-hole to stick our head through and capture the moment. Sometimes you can’t hide your inner kid. There was a corn hole board for enjoyment in the lawn and a complimentary lemonade stand nearby that was amazing on the humid morning.
We then made our way over to the barn. It looked like they were preparing for an event as they set up tables and chairs. The Loveless barn is a popular venue for wedding receptions.
After checking out what else Loveless has to offer besides the café, we headed back inside to grab our food. There was no way we could have waited to get home to eat, so we grabbed one of the many picnic tables outside.
I couldn’t wait to dive into my Southern Omelet (ham, onions, peppers, cheddar cheese). The first bite in I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Yes, it was simply an omelet, but the ham is what made it an exceptional omelet. There’s nothing quite like southern ham.
When I finally stopped gorging myself with the omelet, I scoffed down a biscuit. It reminded me of grandma’s house. Manager Ashley Elder says there is a “secret ingredient the biscuits are made with. We make about 9,000 to 10,000 a day.” That’s a lot of biscuits!
