Up and coming artist Cassadee Pope is blasting her way onto the country music scene.
After winning “The Voice” in 2012, her career really took a turn for the stars. The first female winner of “The Voice,” she eventually signed a record deal with Universal Music Group/Republic Nashville and set the stage for what was yet to come. She released her debut country album “Frame by Frame” in 2013, which climbed its way to the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart. Sports & Entertainment Nashville has been listening to a lot of Cassadee Pope this week, and we really like what we hear. She is our pick for this week’s up-and-coming artist spotlight.
During the third live round of season three of “The Voice,” Pope performed “Over You,” a song written by her coach Blake Shelton, and it reached No. 1 on the iTunes charts. She was the only female to move to the Top 4 Round with her performance of “Stupid Boy” that also climbed to No. 1 on iTunes. From there, she advanced to “The Voice” finals, where she won the entire competition. “The Voice” released the Complete Season 3 Collection, and it reached No. 1 on Heatseekers where it sold 19,000 copies during the first two weeks following its release date. This was an incredible push to jumpstart her career, and she is taking complete advantage of it.
Armed with influences like Shania Twain, Michelle Branch and Avril Lavigne, Pope was sure to have success. These influences prepared her for her relationship with Republic Nashville, releasing the single “Wasting All These Tears,” which debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and sold 125,000 copies in its first week. She has performed with many superstar artists from Rascal Flatts to Blake Shelton. Pope started touring with Rascal Flatts and The Band Perry on the “Live & Loud Tour” in 2013. She spent most of 2014 touring with Tim McGraw and Kip Moore, as well as Dierks Bentley and Randy Houser, which introduced her to an entirely new audience of fans. Her touring continued right into 2015, joining Darius Rucker and David Nail on the “Southern Style Tour” for most of 2015.
Pope has recorded with artist Chris Young – their duet “Think of You” is on his new album “I’m Coming Over.” Her latest single, “I am Invincible,” serves as the lead single for her forthcoming album and carries with it a message of strength and empowerment. Pope will be spending 2016 touring with Young on his “I’m Comin’ Over World Tour.” If you get a chance to see Pope perform live this year, do yourself a favor and go see her.
